Two days ago I met with Sofia, a creatress behind @creandoaprendo account sharing her tremendously creative and out-of-the-box teaching strategies. If you are a teacher, this is a MUST-follow account on Instagram!
Sofía took me to a librería - bookstore, located in Lastarria, a hip neighborhood of Santiago. PlopGalería sells books, of course, but also offers exhibits, readings, and workshops.
During our visit, they had an exhibit called "Historia de un Oso" that was based on a children's book about a bear that gets separated from his family during the time when his country gets taken over by, lets call them, bad folks. I think it's a genius idea to teach children about la dictadura - a Chilean dictatorship (1973-1990).
There is also a short silent film, un cortometraje, based on the same book. My wheels have started turning... How can I incorporate this in my own classroom and pass these ideas onto my colleagues? For now I leave you with pictures and illustrations:
